Illinois state flag was first adopted in 1915 and later modified in 1969.The Illinois state flag is very similar to Idaho’s. It also includes the state seal on a white background. The story of the flag is more interesting compared to Idaho’s. The suggestion came from Ella Park Lawrence during her time as state regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She commissioned a contest in 1914 to design a state flag. The winner received a prize of $25 and the judge was the Illinois secretary of State Lewis Stevenson.
