Flag of Earth 1969 was designed by an Illinois farmer named James Cadle shortly after the first manned landing on the moon in 1969. The intent was to create a flag for the planet Earth. This flag represented all of us as passengers on spaceship Earth, and created a flag that will be embraced by all of us. It consists of a blue circle, representing the earth, on a black background.  To the left is a segment of a large yellow circle, representing the sun.  On the lower right is a small white circle, representing the moon.  This beautiful flag It has been flown all over the globe, including the former Soviet Union at observatories.
