The Grand Union Flag is a flag that was used during the early days of the American Revolution, before the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as the national flag of the United States. It features 13 red and white stripes, representing the 13 colonies, with a British Union Jack in the canton (upper left corner). The Grand Union Flag was first flown on December 3, 1775, at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. It was used by the Continental Army until the adoption of the Stars and Stripes in 1777.
