On February 24, 1976, the Jacksonville City Council approved the use of the Jacksonville City Flag. It was designed by Don Bozeman, who took first place in a design contest held before the Bold CityFest, an annual celebration of the unification of city and county governments, in 1975. A bronze monument in the city’s center provided the inspiration for the brown silhouette of a mounted Andrew Jackson, which both symbolizes the city’s past and Andrew Jackson himself. The solar flare is a sign of a promising future. The skyline of the city/county with the Johns River in the midst of St. The map’s unified community and the river’s significant effect are both depicted. The aspect ratio of the flag is 2×3.
