The Lincolnshire Flag features a red cross, outlined in yellow and with a yellow fleur-de-lys at its center, on a background of green and blue quarters. The red cross represents Saint George’s Cross, which is the national flag of England. The yellow color represents the crops grown in the county and the nickname “Yellowbellies,” which is given to the people born and bred in Lincolnshire. Blue symbolizes the sea of the East coast and the wide skies of Lincolnshire, while green represents the lush fields of the fenland. The fleur-de-lys is a recognized symbol of the City of Lincoln, which is the administrative center of Lincolnshire. The flag was designed by a resident of Lincolnshire in 2005 as part of a competition to create a flag for the county.
