The Canadian province of Quebec is represented by the fleurdelisé (French lily flower) flag. On a blue backdrop, it has a white cross and four white fleurs-de-lis. On January 21, 1948, under the leadership of Maurice Duplessis, it was initially displayed at the Parliament Building in Quebec City as the first provincial flag to be formally adopted in Canada. On March 9, the legislation governing its usage became effective. The flag has a 2:3 aspect ratio.
