Vanuatu Flag

(1 customer review)

The Vanuatu Flag features a background of two equal horizontal bands of red and green, with a black isosceles triangle based on the hoist side. Inside the triangle is a yellow disk, which contains a representation of a local boar’s tusk, called a “tusker”. The red band represents the blood of boars and men, the green band represents the lush vegetation of the islands, and the black triangle symbolizes the people of Melanesia. The yellow disk with the tusker represents the country’s prosperity, and the tusks themselves are an important cultural symbol in Vanuatu. The flag was adopted in 1980, when Vanuatu gained independence from joint French and British rule. The design of the flag is simple yet striking, and it reflects the country’s unique cultural heritage and natural beauty.
